Vocabulario Necesario para Trabajar en Londres en un Restaurante

Cada trabajo, tiene un vocabulario acorde al mismo. No es lo mismo trabajar en un restaurante, que en una oficina, o en un hotel. Por eso, en el post de hoy te traemos algunos términos que necesitarás aprender si vas a trabajar en Londres en un restaurante. Toma nota y proponte aprender inglés de una manera diferente. Que no te pillen por sorpresa cuando empieces tu aventura.

  • Abridor: bottle opener.
  • Agua con gas: sparkling wáter.
  • Agua natural: still wáter.
  • Aliño (ensaladas): dressing.
  • Al punto (carne): medium.
  • Aperitivo: appetizer.
  • Asado (carne): roast.
  • Bar, cervecería: bar, pub.
  • Camarera: waitress.
  • Camarero: waiter.
  • Cena: dinner.
  • Cliente: customer.
  • Comida / almuerzo: lunch.
  • Comida para llevar: takeway, takeout.
  • Cuchara: spoon.
  • Cuchillo: knife.
  • Fast food: para referirse a un restaurante de comida rápida.
  • Entrante: starter.
  • Helado: ice cream.
  • Jarra: mug.
  • La cuenta / factura: bill.
  • Libro de reclamaciones: complaints book.
  • Mantel: tablecloth.
  • Marisco: shellfish.
  • Muy hecho (carne): well done.
  • Pedir: to order.

  • Pimienta: pepper.

  • Sal: salt.

  • Recomendar: to recommend.
  • Refresco: soft drink.
  • Reservar una mesa: to book a table.
  • Restaurante: restaurant.
  • Restaurante autoservicio: self-service restaurante.
  • Tenedor: fork.
  • Tentempié: snack.
  • Verduras: vegetables.
  • Vino: wine.

Expresiones:

  • Una mesa para… (3,4… personas) por favor: A table for… please.
  • ¿Podría ver el menú?: Could I see the menu, please?
  • ¿Ha decidido que va a pedir?: Are you ready to order
  • ¿Tiene reserva?: Do you have a reservation?
  • ¿Qué me recomienda?: What do you recommend?
  • Lo siento, se nos ha terminado: I am sorry, we are out of that.
  • ¿Le gustaría algo más?: Would you like anything else?
  • ¿Puedo pagar con tarjeta?: Can I pay by card?
  • ¿Puedo ayudarle?: Can I help you?

Un consejo que te damos en inglés, al no existir un tratamiento similar al de usted en castellano, si vas a atender a alguien en un restaurante uses el you acompañándolo de expresiones con Madam (señora) o Sir (señor).

Igualmente con los condiciones, por ejemplo, mucho mejor could que can.

Además, apréndete vocabulario concreto relacionado con el restaurante porque, ya que todos no ofrecen lo mismo, intenta memorizar los ingredientes de los platos ya que es muy probable que algún cliente te pregunte por ello.
